Beyond February “Teaching Black History Year-Round”

For more than a decade, DeCarla has led the way in integrating Black History into early childhood education through hands-on learning, storytelling, and culturally affirming experiences.
As an author and founder of Jump Smart Learning Academy, she equips educators and families with tools to teach Black History not just for one month, but as a meaningful part of everyday learning.
Through her work, children see themselves reflected, valued, and inspired, while
educators gain the confidence to teach history with purpose, authenticity, and joy. Academy, she supports educators and families in teaching Black History year-round.
Through her program, community partnerships, and Sharing Knowledge Consulting, DeCarla creates meaningful learning experiences that honor culture, empower educators, and inspire children to see themselves as part of a legacy of greatness. Her latest project was creating a Black history curriculum featuring Dr. Daniel Hale William as part of Erikson Lineage Fellowship cohort she has provided free resources to support the learning which can be found on the resource tab.DeCarla believes that “Self-Knowledge” is the key to “Greatness!

Welcome to our Wonderful Trainings for Educators, where our mission is to offer simple teaching strategies that are fun and motivate children to love learning.
Our moderator, De Carla L. Burton, M.Ed. is an Educational Consultant and CEO of Sharing Knowledge Consultants. She also conducts trainings on the Project Approach for Kohl Children’s Museum and provides trainings on a variety of topics for educators that inspire and engage young children of all ages.

Yes! Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each training. This may be used toward professional development hours, depending on your program requirements.
Each session is thoughtfully designed to be engaging and impactful, lasting
approximately 2 to 3 hours.
Our trainings are open to all educators, including family child care providers, center- based staff, and early childhood professionals. We also offer select trainings that are meaningful for parents and grandparents who want to support children’s growth and development.
Each training is $25 per session, providing high-quality, accessible professional learning for all.
All trainings are currently offered virtually, allowing you to join from the comfort of your home or learning space.
Absolutely! Each training includes handouts, practical strategies, and ready-to-use resources that you can immediately implement with children.
